You pick 05, 10 or 15 minutes in the bottom bar, and 15 minutes is loaded by default. The countdown begins with your first keystroke rather than when you press Start Exam Now, Pause freezes it mid-test, and the analysis report opens on its own when the clock reaches zero.

The report marks PASS only when your net speed is at least 35 WPM and your accuracy is at least 90 percent; falling short of either figure is marked FAIL. The 35 WPM shown in the header is an example passing goal, so use it as a benchmark rather than as the official cut-off of any particular exam. Alongside the verdict the report lists gross speed, net speed, accuracy, total keystrokes, incorrect characters and backspaces used.

It uses exam-style passages instead of simple word lists: contract clauses with amounts and dates, case and account numbers, login and error codes, and hardware specifications, all mixed with digits, punctuation and capitals. A passage is picked at random, then further passages are appended until the text is at least 4,000 characters long.

Backspace works and steps you back one character, but every press is added to the Backspaces figure shown live and in the final report. Retyping the character correctly does not remove the original mistake from the Errors count or from your accuracy, so avoiding an error helps your net WPM more than repairing one.
